WHO IS GEORGE JANKO? HOW AN IMPAULSIVE CO-HOST BUILT A BRAND OF HIS OWN
WHO IS GEORGE JANKO?
HOW AN IMPAULSIVE CO-HOST BUILT A BRAND OF HIS OWN
His name is George Janko.
Many people first discovered him through Impaulsive, the podcast hosted by Logan Paul.
But George's story is bigger than simply being Logan Paul's co-host.
It's about what happens when someone becomes famous as part of another creator's platform — and then has to build an identity of their own.
BEFORE IMPAULSIVE
George Janko was already creating content before becoming a major podcast personality.
He built an audience through comedy, social media and YouTube, while also becoming known for his music and personality-driven content.
Eventually, his connection with Logan Paul led to something much bigger.
THEN CAME IMPAULSIVE
Impaulsive launched in 2018, with Logan Paul as host and Mike Majlak as an early co-host. George became a prominent part of the show and appeared regularly as a co-host.
The format was simple:
Logan + George + Mike + guests + controversial conversations
The podcast became one of the biggest shows in the creator economy.
And George benefited enormously from that distribution.
HE BECAME A RECOGNIZABLE PERSONALITY
George wasn't simply sitting beside Logan.
His personality became part of the entertainment.
He was often the more emotional and openly expressive member of the group.
He could disagree with Logan.
He could challenge guests.
He could turn an ordinary conversation into a funny moment.
And that gave him something valuable:
recognition beyond his own channel.
BUT THERE WAS A PROBLEM
Being part of someone else's media brand creates an interesting business problem.
You're building your audience.
But you're building it inside someone else's platform.
If you leave, what happens?
Do people follow you?
Or do they stay with the original show?
That question became extremely important for George.
THEN THE RELATIONSHIP WITH IMPAULSIVE CHANGED
In early 2023, George launched his own podcast while initially saying he was still part of Impaulsive.
The situation later changed.
George left Impaulsive, and the departure became publicly controversial.
His own first episode about the situation was titled “Why George Janko Is Not On Impaulsive.” In that episode, he discussed the split from his perspective.
The exact circumstances became the subject of public discussion, with different accounts from the people involved.
But from a business perspective, something much more interesting happened.
George had to build without Impaulsive.
THEN HE BUILT HIS OWN SHOW
George launched The George Janko Show.
Now the equation was completely different:
George
↓
His own podcast
↓
His own audience
↓
His own guests
↓
His own brand
Spotify currently lists the show as The George Janko Show, with George as host.
And this gave him something he didn't fully control while working on another person's podcast:
ownership of the platform.
HE CHANGED THE CONTENT
The new show increasingly focused on subjects that were closer to George personally.
Faith.
Relationships.
Life.
Personal development.
Honest conversations.
Guests.
His own experiences.
This made the new podcast less dependent on the Impaulsive formula.
It became:
George's world.
THE BUSINESS LESSON
Imagine two creators.
Creator A owns the podcast.
Creator B is the co-host.
Both become famous.
But economically, their positions are different.
Creator A owns:
The brand
The channel
The audience relationship
The intellectual property
Creator B receives:
Exposure
Recognition
Audience growth
But doesn't necessarily control the underlying media property.
George's story shows why creators eventually want to own their own distribution.
THEN THE AUDIENCE FOLLOWED
Leaving a massive podcast could have destroyed his momentum.
Instead, George continued producing his own content.
His podcast has accumulated more than 100 episodes, and he has continued interviewing creators, entertainers and public figures.
That demonstrates an important principle:
An audience built inside another platform can sometimes be transferred to a platform you own.
THE BUSINESS FLYWHEEL
George's independent model can be simplified:
PERSONALITY
↓
CONTENT
↓
IMPAULSIVE AUDIENCE
↓
PERSONAL RECOGNITION
↓
OWN PODCAST
↓
OWN AUDIENCE
↓
GUESTS + CONTENT
↓
SPONSORSHIPS + PRODUCTS
↓
STRONGER PERSONAL BRAND
The goal isn't simply to get views.
It's to turn views into an owned media business.
MORE THAN A PODCAST
George has also continued developing his identity through other forms of content and commercial projects.
His podcast episodes can be distributed across:
YouTube
Spotify
Apple Podcasts
TikTok
Short-form clips
One conversation can therefore become dozens of pieces of content.
THE CREATOR ECONOMY ANGLE
George's story represents a very specific creator-economy journey:
Co-host
↓
Recognizable personality
↓
Audience
↓
Independent creator
↓
Podcast owner
The biggest transition is from:
being part of somebody else's media company
to
becoming your own media company.
THE REAL ASSET
George's biggest asset isn't Impaulsive.
He doesn't own it.
His real asset is the personal recognition he built while appearing on it.
That recognition can travel.
From one podcast to another.
From YouTube to Spotify.
From short clips to long-form conversations.
From collaborations to his own businesses.
THE BIG LESSON
Being associated with a huge creator can accelerate your career enormously.
But eventually, the question becomes:
“Can I build something that works without them?”
George Janko's career is an example of answering that question.
He went from being recognized primarily as a member of Impaulsive to building a show under his own name.
MAACAT PERSPECTIVE
George Janko's story isn't really about leaving a podcast.
It's about ownership.
Impaulsive gave him enormous exposure.
That exposure helped build his personal brand.
His personal brand gave him the ability to launch his own show.
And his own show gave him something even more valuable:
independence.
**Borrowed audience can make you famous.
Owned audience can make you a business.**
